Though Sayuri Sushi Boutique is somewhat new to the scene, its roots and reputation are longer held in the catering business and decade-plus experience of its head chef Claude Say, who founded the restaurant with friend Ivan Donato in the latter half of 2014. “This shop is really an opportunity to show off our passion and commitment, and show people what we can offer them, whatever may pique their interest.”
Not to dismiss the idea of a permanent shop, as customers are already clamouring for new locations closer to wherever they might work or live, but Claude’s experience in every brand of sushi from large chains to boutiques like his own has taught him that personalized attention is never a failing strategy. “We like to infuse our personality and respond to our customers, break the rules as we make them, since that’s what gives people a unique experience. In our catering business, that’s brought us major clients and events all over Quebec and even for larger Toronto firms, and we get to practice that trait every day with our shop.”
