I have 40 years of extensive psychotherapy and counselling practice experience. And a background of training in a wide range of methods and perspectives.
I have developed expertise in many areas, focusing especially on all relationship/family concerns, and on emotional hurts/ trauma particularly endured in early life/childhood. Social anxiety; anger; addictions; moods-emotional disturbance; dispositional/'personality' issues; self-care/esteem; youth pressures; stress management and personal success achievement difficulties generally, are matters for which I most frequently provide therapy.
Fee: $130-- $50; I have a sliding scale to accommodate personal circumstances.While focus is specific to your concerns, overall orientation is 'whole-person wellness': emotions, ways of thinking, lifestyle, work/school, important relationships.
For 15 years, I have applied research-informed Neuroscience to enhance effectiveness of helping methods (e.g., interpretive 'therapeutic processing', relational and family-oriented interventions), resulting in unique solutions. Because distress 'lives' in our bodies besides thoughts, I emphasize expressive, emotion-based, stress-reducing approaches. I visited with Chris for fifteen years, and his counselling turned my life around. I was dealing with divorce, childhood abuse, motherhood. Chris guided me through the emotional quagmire of post-divorce life and helped me to get my life back on track. With his help I was able to complete my Masters degree, and become a successful career woman, artist, mother. Without his help I'd likely still be struggling with the turmoil. I highly recommend him: supportive, kind, great listener, results!
Chris was the best therapist I ever had! He was the first person who truly listened/cared/understood/ me, and had a HEART. He was kind, respectful, & treated me like a PERSON, instead of a number/label/illness. All the many others I’d seen seemed book-smart, but not “life-smart”, like Chris. Who cares if a therapist can read a book, if he can’t unravel my crazy life and keep me from falling apart? I highly recommend Chris if you have abuse/PTSD issues and want a safe person to explore them with.
He is a nice and polite person. But, if you're looking for a psychologist who can actually understand and help you, then he might not be a good fit.
I saw him for two weeks total, plus an initial meeting ( which he later charged me for). He would just ask something like " how are you" to get me talking, and just continuously nod as I talk. I didn't feel like we had much of a connection, and he only provided some feedback which felt very general and memorized from a textbook:(
