Our first visit to the renovated Masaryktown Restaurant was for a Saturday luncheon. The décor, cleanliness, lighting and view of the park gave us a wonderful first impression. We were given a pleasant welcome by our server, and throughout our meal she was not only attentive but did so with genuine warmth. To top it off, the food was well presented and delicious! This place is amazing. Such a little cafe, but the service was awesome - especially the cute little lady that makes all the wonderful food. The prices were more than affordable, service was quick and they feed you better then anything else. Portions are very generous. I had the Chicken Shawarma and a Greek salad it was more than a belly full, and felt like the best Shawarma in town. I was so happy eating it. I spoke to the super friendly staff (possibly owners?) and they said everything was made from scratch from the pita to ALL the dressings.... seriously folks, where are you going to find that in this day of age. What a treat we had in Port Perry after a couple of hours out on the water. The main dining room was full so we were shown a table in a private room which we had all to ourselves. Both the service and the food was excellent. The owner, Christie, was friendly and down to earth making us feel very welcome. A couple of us had food restrictions which were easily accommodated. I've been to this restaurant twice now and both times the food has been great. But I was there with my husband's family last night for my father-in-law's birthday. My mother-in-law had brought a birthday cake to the restaurant and had asked them to bring it out as a surprise when it was time for dessert. Everything was going great until the server informed my mother-in-law (just before they were about to bring his birthday cake out) that we would be charged $10 just for them to bring it out! We said forget it, and we took the cake home and had it there! We would have ordered coffees and cafe au laits to go with the cake, so they certainly would have made at least another $20 off of that, but it's their loss I guess. So to summarize, the food was excellent as usual, but we were very disappointed that they wouldn't accommodate our birthday cake with out a steep charge - it left a bad taste in our mouth. Read more
