Had supper here and what a wonderful dining experience! It is a comfortable, homey atmosphere where you are served a delicious meal that is superbly cooked .........fresh ingredients, nothing overcooked. It reminded me of Sunday dinners at Grandma's house.........dessert was also fabulous and fresh-made. I would advise people to make a reservation for dinner........we didn't have one but they fitted us in within the hour.

Being a Vegan for only 10 months I find it almost impossible to eat anywhere! We went to the Old Newcastle House and I was advised to try the veggie stir-fry. I have to admit I was hesitant, it was fabulous!!! I love to cook so therefore find it hard to find food I can say I love in most places!!! The company I was with also really enjoyed their food a lot! I have to say being OCD I always tend to look at the surroundings and this place is a little gem it is extremely clean ( which I love ) and beautifully decorated. This is our second visit and I look forward to many more !!!

Our soccer team and parents, a party of 30+, invaded for lunch and we were really impressed with the service, the food, the atmosphere, everything was amazing! The server, Hunter, remembered everyone's names, no ones orders were mixed up, the separate bills were all correct... Great atmosphere. Nice little pub in downtown Oshawa. Just moving to Oshawa about a year ago never would have thought to even try this place (being downtown). The wings are great (best I have had in Oshawa so far, and "yes" I have been to the Bulldog and Jax's). The only bad thing that I could say about the wings, they are a little on the small side and the hot are not all that hot. The service is alright (good at times, but alright). Nice little patio, clean washrooms, decent bar, good mix of different age groups. Been there twice, was a jazz/blues band playing during our second visit. Great place!!!

It's been years since I had been to an East Side's, as I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised. The food was fresh, quick, and the service was good. The food wasn't as heavy and bland as I expected, but light and flavourful. I judged too quickly, and will give this place another shot when we crave some Italian.

I am confused by the "American" designation, since it is clearly German, right down to the delicious spaetzle and red cabbage. (You can only get the red cabbage if you ask, it isn't on the menu.)
The schnitzels are very good, with ample portions. (We have never tried the homemade desserts -- too full!) The meat is tender and set off well by the fine breading. My husband has tried every schnitzel on the menu, and has a hard time declaring a favourite - he enjoys them all.
The coffee is very good, the warm bun that comes prior to the meal is a nice treat. The service is usually very pleasant. A little more than a standard lunch in terms of cost, but worth it.

Well unlike others who posted, we had a great experience at this location. We were seated and waited on in a timely manner. Our food arrived, hot, with no mistakes, in decent time. The only criticism came from my wife who had the Baked-Seven Cheese Ravioli with Bolognese sauce. She said that she likes to taste the cheese, but the sauce overpowered the cheese. Other wise everyone enjoyed their meals.

A takeaway goat roti is $9. I do not understand how anyone put $60 per person. If you are eating in, the lunch special of say boneless chicken and a pop, is going to run you about the same. If I eat in at lunch I usually get a boneless chicken roti and a pop and a double and a pop. About $11 plus the tip for excellent service.
This is my absolute favourite restaurant. I can agree that the location is not awesome but the food is wonderfully delicious. And plentiful.
