Yesterday, my wife and I ordered two Cod Burgers with fries, at the drive through on Cliffe Ave. in Courtenay. We received our order okay but the receipt said only one order of fries and read $15.72. We paid $18.85. Was this an honest error by Kishan or something else? The burgers did taste good however.

I am 72 yr. old lady A&W is my favorite hamburger place. I miss the old A&W song. EVERY restaurant I go to I sing it to the employees. I know it by heart. They say they have never heard it before and love it. I remember in the 60s as a teen how they would bring your order on a tray on roller skates and hang the tray on the side of your car. I don't normally write reviews but in this case it was well deserved. My wife and I ate at this restaurant and like most were blown away by the customer service we received. They greeted us first by opening the door for us, checked on us during our meal to make sure everything was to our satisfaction, and thanked us at the end for coming and opened the door for us when we were done. I honestly felt like I was in a small town restaurant and cannot say enough good things about this A & W.

Although this establishment now serves Chinese food, to me it is not the crowning jewel of this eatery. It has truly stood the test of time. As a young boy, mom and dad would slip me a few bucks, I'd get on my bike and pedal up there, back when the original owner was working his own place, breading and seasoning by hand (hint: this was in the late 70's).
This was THE weekly treat for me to take this delicious, crispy, one of a kind taste home in the basket of my bike and delve into a taste sensation. The "Colonel" got punk'd everytime, hands down.
You do not go here to sit in, you don't go here to take in the "ambiance"... It was never, ever the way this place was supposed to be. This is a place you order, pick up and just go home to enjoy those juices that will grace your chin. you sit at home and enjoy it at home, because you know you'd feel just a *twinge* of guilt knowing that someone else nearby was not enjoying this delectable treat.

Fresh, juicy beef with no bits like some beef burgers and shredded real Cheddar Cheese.You can get a plethora of condiments for your burger , the fries would have been great if they were a little more cooked. Not cheap but worth the money and generous in portion size. Rich,meaty Chilli Fries too! Great counter staff. Daily specials. Fun,colorful decor and very clean shop. Veras is THEE burger shack...I can't wait for the next visit...
