Avoid the Burgers

Our party of 6 sat out on the patio for our supper on a beautiful sunny day at the end of May. The service was good and for the most part the food was ok except for two out of our party who ordered the hamburgers. Its disappointing that they can't make the effort to make their own patties. Espcially considering our wait time. Its not like the food was served super fast. In fact, it took a while but we didn't mind as we weren't in a rush. Anyways, the burger patties are the kind of processed "precooked" patties that you can buy in the frozen food section at a grocery store. Rubbery and very off putting. A disappointment! I had the NY strip steak, not bad but I ordered rare and it wasn't rested when they served it. Not a big deal. We also had the calamari, zuccini sticks and patotoe skins for appetizers. All passable but nothing to write home about. I'd go back again for a drink and an appetizer but I probably wouldn't have a meal. I love the pub inside, very old school british pub feel. I think it would be cosy in the winter. The patio has a great view and is a nice place to go for a drink.

Breakfast was a hit

After driving past here several times we decided to try out breakfast. It is served only on weekends from 10-12. People were waiting in their cars when we arrived at 9:50. They have an interesting concept that works well-you choose from several "mains" like eggs benedict or the usual eggs, meat combo plus a couple of sandwhiches that come with hash browns and beans(looked/tasted homemade). The beans were in a very small dish-my husband could have easily had another. Juice and unlimited very good coffee is included all for $7.95!!! The patio was very nice sitting on the marina while the inside is an english style pub-the decor was a little worn/dated but very comfy with friendly efficient service. Will be coming here often as I'm tiring of the strip mall locations we've been frequenting in Barrhaven.

The Swan is a very cosy pub south of Manotick, on the shore of the Rideau River. The staff is very friendly and efficient. The food is always good! MUSIC... The first Wednesday of every month, a group of over 15 musicians gather to play Celtic selections. The ensemble is acoustic, and provides a delightfully embracing quality of performance and audio level. I was charmed. A must see(hear) event.

Decent food, decent service, very nice location.

This isn't a fine dining experience. The location is quite incredible, but the dining experience is that of a pub without the music. That is right, there's no music, although it was advertised that they have a Celtic band on Wednesdays.

You posted my review, but I did say that I would definetly visit the Swan again !!! A great place to dine and to have drinks with friends. Fantastic, friendly, attentive service. Very cosy atmosphere. Fabulous food. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Price of the meal was very reasonable. The Swan on the Rideau is a country gem.

A great place to dine and to have drinks with friends. Fantastic, friendly, attentive service. Very cosy atmosphere. Fabulous food. Steaks were cooked to perfection. Price of the meal was very reasonable. The Swan on the Rideau is a country gem.

Of course, it was the eleventh hour when I called and tried to make an evening reservation on Valentine’s Day. And, of course, like everyone else they were completely booked but they did call me back and I was so happy that they could squeeze us in. We enjoyed the best meal we could have hoped for. The house red (forget the varietal) was so perfectly pared with the shrimp appetizer, Gamberi Di Amaretto. And the chardonnay was lovely with the escargots. Our entrees were equally delicious and in spite of the fact that it was a very busy evening for Napoli’s, the food arrived at our table fresh and hot and the service was perfect. Water glasses were always topped up and we were never left unattended for long. The servers were very friendly and approachable and it all made for a fantastic dining experience. We also didn’t feel over-crowded in this ‘full-to-capacity’ restaurant. Our table provided plenty of elbow room and the table conversation was easy to hear in spite of people. We were very comfortable and happy to be enjoying the wonderful atmosphere. We can’t wait to have dinner at Napoli’s again. Read more
